Every year since 1999, Sport Express has held a Backyard Football Tournament. This Tournament aims at involving children, teenagers and youth in playing active football. It also helps them manage their leisure time in the right way and improve their health.
Last year, the Tournament has been held on September 5th as a part of the Moscow City Day celebration. The motto of the First International Backyard Football Tournament is “Children of the World Choose Sport”. The Backyard Football Tournament was organised by Sport Express in association with the Ministry of Sports, Tourism and Youth Policy, the Football Union of Russia, and the Moscow City Committee for Physical Culture and Sports.
The winner of the 2009 All-Russian Backyard Football Tournament and five foreign children’s football clubs competed in the tournament. Moreover, two special participants played in the tournament: the Moscow Orphanage team and a team of children with hearing and speech impairments.
The organisers’ goal is to create a spectacular sports festival that will leave a lasting impression on the children, help them overcome language and social differences and barriers, and let them experience the joy of communicating through sport. Also among the major activities of the First IBFT was a match between the team of the Russian Federation Government "Rosich" and team representatives of the embassies of countries participating in the tournament - 7:1.
Under the terms of the organizers, the winner gets the right to host the Second International Backyard Football Tournament on their territory, therefore, one year later all the guest flags will be with us in Russia.
We incur all the financial expenses, except flight and visas. We are also responsible for visa support from our country.
